The Shock of the New - A Friendly Estate Agent!
Date Published
06 July 2023
July 30th this year is International Friendship Day, a worldwide celebration created by the United Nations which highlights the different forms the bond of friendship can take.
You might well ask yourself what that's got to do with an estate agent? Let's face it, our profession isn't known for being held in high regard by the general public!
In fact the
most recent survey by IPSOS
found that the five least-trusted professions are politicians, advertising executives, government ministers, journalists and estate agents...
Stereotypes
It's not much fun loving your job and also knowing that most people will likely treat you with suspicion, or even be predisposed to think you're trying to con them in some way.
The sad thing about all this is that it really is the old cliché of a few bad apples ruining things for everyone else - most estate agents really are decent, honourable people who want the best for their clients.
The problem for anyone wanting to sell, let, buy or rent a home is how on earth do you work out the good from the bad?
Words and deeds
Pretty much every estate agency these days uses the words 'honest' and 'transparent' as if that's something that sets them apart. Surely those are two of the things that clients should expect in any type of business dealings as being basic fundamental aspects?
As a well established independent estate agency based in Worthing town centre we prefer to highlight our differences by telling you we're friendly and informal, yet also professional and successful. We think it's a refreshing approach and a change from the stereotypes of the past.
A lot of other agents suggest you 'pop in for a chat' and some even sweeten the deal with the promise of a hot drink... however, when you take them up on it you find yourself being the target of a hard sell!
We think it's far more important to listen to what you've got to say. We want to know all about you, your hopes, dreams and aims. We want to know exactly what you want because that's the best starting point for us to be able to help you get there.
Friendship
Listening really is the basis of friendship. Maybe the hard sell 'city boy' approach that a lot of estate agents use when they talk about 'deals' and 'markets' is the reason they're disliked and mistrusted.
When you take the time to listen to someone you're acting in a friendly way and people really do respond to that. We know, because it's what we do.
Every member of the Matthew Anthony team upholds the highest levels of professional standards to our clients whilst also being welcoming, friendly and yes even fun.
A member of our team guides you through every step of the process of moving home and that creates a very real personal connection. You're on a journey and it's our honour to be along for the ride.
So if you'd like to find out more give us a call on 01903 608080, email info@matthewanthony.co.uk or pop into our office at Worthing House, 6 South Street, Worthing BN11 3AA - we'd love to get to know you!
