Can You Really Find Your Dream Home?

Looking at property portals and estate agent websites can become quite addictive when you are looking to buy a home.

There are many factors that come into play even before you decide to book a viewing. Location, location, location is the old mantra but it does ring true - most people will have a good idea of where they want to live.

The type of property is something that narrows things down too. Some people may be looking for somewhere bigger, others downsizing, while sometimes outdoor space or access is a big issue.

Essentially most people will have a fairly good idea of where there dream home is and what it looks like - so is it possible to make that dream come true?

The good news is that your dream home, or something very much like it, is probably out there waiting for you to find it.

That picture in your mind's eye is something that you've probably gone over so many times you could describe it to someone in great detail. That's actually what we love to hear, because as an estate agent it gives us a focus to aim for.

We're here to listen because that's how we can then help you. Strangely, it's not something that every estate agent does.

Just because you've found a property that's in the right place and looks like a good fit, there's much more to it than that.

That's why hardly anyone just buys a new home direct from finding it online. It's not like ordering something from Amazon that you can send back if it's not the right fit!

Going on a viewing is where the magic really happens - or often doesn't. As estate agents it's our pleasure to show you round a property you've taken time and effort to visit. You wouldn't have done that if you didn't think it might be 'the one'.

It's actually a great part of our job seeing people have a 'love at first sight' moment with a home they've only seen online before. And yes, it happens all the time!

However, the flip side of that particular coin is that sometimes something just doesn't feel right. It is often a feeling too, rather than any particular physical factor such as dimensions or build quality.

It's that intangible thing which really does make a house a home - it's something that even after years of viewings even the best estate agent will never be able to describe properly. That's because it simply comes down to whether or not something lives up to your dream.

It might take some time, it could take many viewings or it might be that magical 'love at first sight' property. The good news is that most people find what they are looking for, or at least get very close.

Renovating an older home can morph it more into your dream image, as can simply adding a fresh coat of paint here and there. Sometimes it's a case of everything being right just as it is - an ‘unpack and uncork the bottle' property, or perhaps in the reverse order!
